Advance your career in breast oncology and make a lasting impact on cancer research. Our esteemed research team, housed within a leading research university, offers a unique opportunity to work alongside clinical researchers, surgeons, and specialists within our integrated program. This collaborative environment not only contributes to exceptional patient care but also provides the opportunity to be a subject matter expert in this specific area of research.

About the Role:

Tulane Cancer Center is an emerging NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center whose purposes are the treatment and control of cancer, the advancement of biomedical knowledge through laboratory and clinical research, and the training of physicians, scientists, and other healthcare workers. You will be at the forefront of leading-edge research and exceptional patient care.

  • You will have a direct impact on educating the next level of medical professionals. From mentoring fellows and residents to guiding medical students, your expertise will shape the future of oncology.
  • Join a specialized group with an integrated cancer program, including clinical research, specialized nursing, surgery, radiation oncology, and a supportive team, as well as the opportunity to focus on your interests in medical oncology.
  • Incoming faculty members will receive a minimum of 50% protected time to focus on research and scholarly activities.
  • Louisiana has a high incidence of breast cancer, with 13.9% of new diagnoses. Your expertise will be instrumental in our ongoing efforts to close the treatment gap for these patients.

Research and Clinical Trials:

Trial 1: Tomosynthesis Mammographic Imaging Screening

  • A randomized screening trial to compare the diagnostic accuracy of screening for breast cancer using three-dimensional digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) plus two-dimensional full-field digital mammography (FFDM).
    • The same comparison using two-dimensional full-field digital mammography (FFDM) alone.

Trial 2: Evaluation of De-Escalation of Breast Radiation (DEBRA)

  • This Phase III Trial evaluates whether breast conservation surgery and endocrine therapy results in a non-inferior rate of invasive or non-invasive ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence (IBTR) compared to breast conservation with breast radiation and endocrine therapy.

  • Take advantage of the city’s proximity to the Gulf Coast and enjoy outdoor activities like boating, fishing, and more!
  • Whether you’re cheering on the Saints at the Superdome or joining a second-line parade through the streets, you’ll feel right at home in New Orleans!
  • Enjoy the convenience of living in a city with an international airport and multiple activities to enjoy
