Position Highlights * Assignment Length: Ongoing * Schedule: 12-hour shifts * 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM * 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM * Call: None Clinical Environment * 11-bed Emergency Department * Annual volume of approximately 15,000–16,000 visits * Average daily census of 30–40 patients * Approximately 4–5 admissions per day (13% admission rate) * Primarily young and generally healthy patient population * Low-acuity practice setting * Not a designated trauma, stroke, or cardiac center * Minimal EMS traffic Responsibilities * Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of emergency medical conditions * Perform standard Emergency Department procedures, primarily involving low- to moderate-acuity cases * Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic evaluations * Provide care for adult, pediatric, and gynecologic patients * Coordinate care with consulting services, including pediatrics when needed * Document patient encounters accurately using the facility's electronic medical record Support Staff * Experienced Emergency Department nursing and ancillary staff * Standard hospital specialty call services * Dedicated Labor & Delivery unit separate from the Emergency Department * Pediatrician available in the Emergency Department during peak hours Qualifications * ABEM Board Certification strongly preferred * Physicians who are not Emergency Medicine boarded will be considered if they have extensive Emergency Department experience and are comfortable treating pediatric and gynecologic patients * Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure * Current DEA registration * ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications, as required
