Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Pathology in Carbondale, IL - We are actively seeking an experienced Pathologists’ Assistant for a locum contract opportunity in Illinois starting ASAP. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking for a steady weekday schedule in a collaborative hospital laboratory environment. Position Highlights: • Monday–Friday schedule • Day shifts only (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) • No call responsibilities • 13-week assignment • EPIC EMR • Hospital-based pathology setting Key Responsibilities: • Assist with gross description and dissection of surgical specimens • Submit tissue specimens for histological and laboratory testing • Summarize patient medical histories • Collaborate closely with pathologists, laboratory staff, and hospital teams • Maintain high-quality pathology and laboratory standards Requirements: • Master’s degree in Health Science or Pathology • ASCP Certification required • Minimum 1–2 years of pathology assistant experience preferred • Strong surgical pathology grossing experience Ideal candidates will have strong technical pathology skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
