Specific assignment details may vary based on the healthcare facility, geographic location, patient population and the types of orthopedic cases encountered. General Job Responsibilities:   * Provide expert care for patients with injuries and disorders affecting bones, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves.  * Conduct a wide range of orthopedic surgeries, including fracture repair, joint replacement, arthroscopy and soft tissue repair.  * Provide emergency care for traumatic injuries requiring immediate surgical intervention.  * Manage conditions through non-invasive techniques, such as medication or physical therapy, when appropriate.  * Provide patient education about conditions, treatment options and post-care management strategies.  * Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient care plans.  * Maintain accurate and thorough medical records. Skills:   * Proficient in performing a variety of both minimally invasive and complex orthopedic procedures.  * Ability to assess and diagnose musculoskeletal issues accurately and develop appropriate treatment plans.  * Capability to make quick, informed decisions during surgery and in emergency situations.  * Strong communication skills to explain complex medical information to patients.  * Excellent manual dexterity and precision.  * Flexibility to adapt to new work environments and different medical teams.   Minimum Education Requirements:   * Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.  * Residency training program in orthopedic surgery accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). License & Certifications:   * Board certification in orthopedic surgery from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS).  * Active and unrestricted medical license in Oregon.   Experience:   * While specific requirements may vary, most locum orthopedic surgeon positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience providing care in a clinical setting.
