As an independent contractor, you likely will not be covered under any sort of employee sponsored healthcare plan. Luckily, you can write off 100% of the premiums you pay for your independent healthcare plan you pay for personally. Keep in mind, though, this only applies when you are absolutely not offered any employee-sponsored options. But, if your spouse gets a health insurance plan through their employer yet you still opt for an independent health coverage plan, you are not allowed to deduct those premiums in that case. Contact your tax advisor for more information. Any travel expenses, 50% of meal costs, and things that are paid by yourself get tax refunds too typically.
