The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) has created a compact in hopes of making the licensing process easier and less redundant to physicians who wish to work in other states. However, the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact must be put into place into at least 7 states before it will become a reality. Although Alabama, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont have introduced the bill, only 6 states currently have enacted (Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming.)
