Locum Physician Assistant (PA) - Cardiology - General/Other in Asheville, NC - We are seeking an experienced Locums Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide inpatient cardiology coverage in Asheville. This opportunity is ideal for an advanced practice provider with strong cardiology experience who is comfortable managing step-down and cardiology unit patients in a collaborative hospital setting. Assignment Details * 12-hour day shifts * Coverage needed 7 days per week * Primarily daytime coverage * Hospital-based inpatient cardiology service * EMR: Cerner Responsibilities * Round daily on patients admitted to or seen in consultation on the general cardiology service line * Manage mostly step-down and cardiology unit patients * Perform: * Daily progress notes * Event notes * Admission H&Ps * New consult notes * Discharge summaries * Order medications, diagnostic testing, and procedures as indicated * Perform ICU procedures when needed, including: * Arterial line placement * Central line placement * Cardioversion * Conduct new patient consults in collaboration with attending physicians * Work closely with cardiologists, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams to provide high-quality patient care Requirements * Experienced Cardiology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant * Active North Carolina license required * Active North Carolina DEA required * Strong inpatient cardiology experience preferred * Comfortable performing bedside ICU procedures

This opportunity is ideal for a cardiologist experienced in managing acute cardiac conditions within a hospital-based setting and comfortable caring for critically ill cardiac patients overnight. The facility is primarily seeking Friday through Sunday night coverage, though providers with alternate availability will also be considered. Position Details * Coverage Type: In-house night coverage * Weekend Coverage Preferred: Friday through Sunday nights * Flexible scheduling and additional availability will be considered Shift Schedule * Friday Night: Approximately 5:00 PM – 7:00 AM * Start time may be delayed up to 8:00 PM for commuting needs * Saturday Night: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM * Sunday Night: 6:00 PM – 7:00 AM Clinical Responsibilities * Provide overnight in-house cardiology coverage * Manage Cardiac ICU admissions and ongoing patient care * Evaluate and treat acute cardiovascular emergencies including: * STEMI * Unstable ventricular tachycardia (VT) * Ventricular fibrillation (VF) * Cardiogenic shock * Interpret ECGs and echocardiograms * Collaborate with Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Heart Failure teams who are available for at-home backup support * Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR system Qualifications * MD or DO required * Board Certified in Cardiology * Active North Carolina medical license required * Active DEA required * Strong ECG interpretation skills required * Strong echocardiography reading skills required * Experience managing critically ill cardiac patients and ICU admissions required
