About the Position
We are seeking a dedicated Vascular/Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant for an 80-day assignment in Virginia, starting Sep 21, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient care from 8a to 5p, including performing history and physical examinations, evaluating consults, developing treatment plans, and managing a variety of cases such as paracentesis, biopsies, and venous access procedures. The Physician Assistant will also coordinate care, round on inpatients, and document thoroughly.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations (H&Ps)
- Evaluate inpatient and outpatient IR consults
- Determine procedural appropriateness and develop treatment plans
- Order and interpret labs and diagnostic imaging
- Obtain informed consent and educate patients/families on procedures, risks, and recovery
- Coordinate care with referring physicians, hospitalists, surgeons, oncology, nephrology, vascular surgery, and primary care teams
- Round on post-procedure inpatients and manage complications
- Write progress notes, discharge summaries, and procedure documentation
- Prescribe medications and manage peri-procedural care within scope of practice
- Respond to consult requests and triage urgent IR cases throughout the day
- Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and discharge coordination

- Cases include: Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, Thyroid FNA/biopsies, Image-guided biopsies, Venous access procedures (PICC, midline, tunneled central venous catheters), Port placement and removal, Drain placement checks, exchanges, and removals, Chest tube management, Lumbar punctures, Fine needle aspirations, Assessment and removal of drainage catheters, Pre- and post-procedure vascular access evaluation, Dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and wound assessments.
