About the Position

A Level II Trauma Center in Kearney, Nebraska is seeking a Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician to provide 24-hour orthopedic trauma call coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for an orthopedic surgeon who enjoys managing acute musculoskeletal injuries and providing surgical care in a collaborative hospital setting.

Position Highlights

• Setting: Inpatient and Emergency Department

• Call Schedule: 24-hour orthopedic trauma call

• Average Callback Time: Approximately 2 hours

• Facility: Level II Trauma Center

• EMR: Epic

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour orthopedic trauma call coverage

• Evaluate and manage orthopedic injuries presenting through the Emergency Department and inpatient services

• Perform surgical procedures as clinically indicated

• Provide comprehensive fracture evaluation and management

• Deliver general orthopedic care for acute injuries and musculoskeletal conditions

• Collaborate with emergency medicine physicians, trauma surgeons, hospitalists, nursing staff, and ancillary teams to provide timely, high-quality patient care

• Document patient encounters accurately using Epic

Procedures

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• General orthopedic surgery

• Fracture care and management

• Evaluation and treatment of orthopedic trauma

• Operative management of orthopedic injuries as indicated

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

• Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency

• Active Nebraska medical license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)

• Current ATLS certification required

• Current DEA registration
