Position Overview (Internal)

One of our Partners is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Interventional Cardiologist to provide a combination of 24-hour STEMI call coverage and scheduled Interventional/General Cardiology coverage at WellSpan Gettysburg Hospital.

This assignment includes both weekend STEMI call and weekday hospital-based Interventional Cardiology coverage consisting of inpatient consults, outpatient clinic, cardiac catheterizations, TEE procedures, echocardiography interpretation, and weeknight STEMI beeper call. During weekend call, the physician will also provide General Cardiology coverage.

The practice averages approximately 15 consults per day and 3 cardiac procedures daily in a modern 74-bed acute care hospital utilizing Epic EMR. Physicians benefit from an experienced cardiovascular team while practicing within one of Pennsylvania's leading regional health systems.

Orientation is fully billable.

Recommended Provider Compensation

• 24-Hour STEMI Call: $4,000 per 24-hour shift (includes the first two (2) callback hours)
• Regular Day Coverage (7A–4P): $425/hour
• Weeknight Beeper Call (4P–7A): $600/night
• Callback: $500/hour after the first two included callback hours
• Orientation: $425/hour (all hours billable)
• Holiday: 1.3× applicable rate

Provider Pay Ranking: Top 5–10% nationally for community Interventional Cardiology locum assignments.

Daily Schedule

• Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Weeknight STEMI Beeper Call: 4:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Job Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations
• Evaluate inpatient cardiology consults
• Provide outpatient cardiology clinic coverage
• Interpret transthoracic echocardiograms
• Perform Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE)
• Provide STEMI call coverage
• Cover General Cardiology during weekend call
• Coordinate patient care with hospitalists, emergency physicians, and specialists
• Document all encounters within Epic EMR

• Approximately 120-day credentialing
• Temporary privileges available for physicians with clean files and an active Pennsylvania license
• Full credentialing compliance due two weeks before start
• PATCH background check submitted within five days of signed agreement
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Registry
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting
• Occupational health clearance, physical, and required immunizations
