About the Position

We are seeking a skilled Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgery for a 60-day assignment starting Nov 23, 2026, in New Hampshire. This role involves comprehensive pre-operative evaluations, first assisting in cardiothoracic procedures including CABG and valve surgeries, and managing post-operative care in the ICU and step-down units, with a schedule including rotating call on weekends and weekdays.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including H&Ps, ordering/interpreting diagnostics, obtaining consents, and preparing patients for surgery
  • First assist in cardiothoracic procedures including CABG, valve repair/replacement, and other thoracic surgeries
  • Perform vein and artery harvesting, assist with hemostasis, wound closure, and chest tube management
  • Manage postoperative care in the ICU and step-down units, including daily rounds and treatment planning
  • Monitor for postoperative complications and coordinate timely interventions
  • Evaluate new consults and collaborate with CT surgeons, cardiologists, intensivists, and nursing staff
  • Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostic studies
  • Perform bedside procedures within scope of practice
  • Manage drains, wounds, documentation, discharge planning, and patient education
  • Participate in call coverage and ensure continuity of care across the surgical service
