About the Position
Our client is seeking a Psychiatrist for a 240-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Aug 31, 2026. This role is primarily telehealth focused, with patients attending the facility in person for sessions. An onsite presence for one week every two months is required. The schedule is 8:30am-5pm, including daily team meetings, focusing on consults and follow-ups for patients with serious mental health conditions, dual diagnoses, and homelessness.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide almost exclusively telehealth services, with patients attending the facility in person for sessions.
- Be available for onsite work one week every two months.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within a full service partnership model.
- Perform patient consults and follow-ups. New patient exams are rare, approximately five per month and one hour in duration, with follow-up appointments lasting 30 minutes.
- Attend daily team meetings from 8:30am to 9am.
- Manage documentation efficiently, with dedicated time built into the daily schedule.
- Treat a patient population with serious mental health conditions, including psychotic disorders, often experiencing impairment and impoverishment.
- Care for patients frequently presenting with dual diagnoses (often involving methamphetamine or marijuana use), trauma, and homelessness.
- Complete all patient notes on the same day as the encounter.
