About the Position

We are seeking a Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician to provide hospital-based coverage in Lima, Ohio. This assignment offers 24-hour call coverage in a collaborative, Level II Trauma Center, caring for adult patients requiring complex cardiothoracic surgical procedures.

Assignment Details

  • Practice Setting: Hospital-Based

  • Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)

  • Coverage Needed: 10–14 days of call coverage per month

  • Weekend Coverage: Yes

  • On-Call: Yes

  • Average Surgical Cases: Approximately 1 case per day

  • Trauma Level: Level II

  • EMR: Epic

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery call coverage.

  • Evaluate and manage adult patients requiring cardiothoracic surgical intervention.

  • Perform emergent and scheduled cardiothoracic surgical procedures.

  • Conduct daily inpatient rounding and postoperative management.

  • Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to deliver comprehensive patient care.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic.

Required Procedures

Candidates must be experienced and proficient in:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)

  • Arterial Revascularization using:

    • Internal Mammary Arteries

    • Radial Artery

    • Gastroepiploic Artery

  • Redo Coronary Revascularization (with or without concomitant heart valve surgery)

  • Pericardial Window

  • Heart Valve Repair and Replacement

  • Mitral Valve Repair

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

  • Completion of an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship.

  • Active, unrestricted Ohio medical license.

  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications.

  • DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileges.
