Job Requirements

• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
• Active Iowa medical license or active IMLC required
• Fellowship trained in Orthopedic Surgery
• At least 1 year of orthopedic surgery experience required; experienced orthopedic surgeons preferred
• Must be able to cover the listed on-call blocks
• Clean malpractice and background history required
• Self-Query NPDB report pulled within 30 days at time of presentation
• Strong communication and responsiveness for facility call coverage

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient orthopedic surgery and on-call coverage
• Take calls from individuals reaching the facility with questions, as required
• Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and consult on orthopedic conditions, injuries, and illnesses
• Perform history and physical exams, admissions, stabilization, and disposition planning
• Manage a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions affecting the extremities, spine, hands, feet, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, and more
• Deliver care in the intensive care setting in accordance with unit policies when needed
• Respond to emergent orthopedic consults and provide consultative call services
• Collaborate with the care team to support safe, efficient, high-quality patient care
