About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a Pediatric Cardiac ICU team in New York for a 6–9 month locum assignment.
This opportunity offers the chance to work in a high-acuity, 16-bed Pediatric Cardiac Care Center caring for critically ill pediatric patients with congenital heart disease. The NP functions as a primary provider within a multidisciplinary team, managing complex cardiac conditions before and after surgery while collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists.
Position Highlights
• 6–9 month locum assignment
• Approximately 39 hours per week
• Rotating 13-hour day and night shifts (6:00 AM–7:00 PM & 6:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• Day and night shifts scheduled separately whenever possible
• Weekend, holiday, on-call, and callback coverage as required
• Primary provider role within a Pediatric Cardiac ICU
• Manage critically ill congenital cardiac patients in a fast-paced environment
• Care for pre and post-operative cardiac surgery patients
• Manage high-risk single ventricle physiology, arrhythmias, vasopressor therapy, open chest patients, ECMO, CRRT, and pacemaker patients
• Occasional care for adult congenital heart disease and PICU patients as needed
• Collaborative multidisciplinary practice environment
Requirements
• Master's degree as a Nurse Practitioner
• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Active New York Nurse Practitioner license
• Current National Nurse Practitioner Certification
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU APP experience
• Strong knowledge of complex congenital cardiac anatomy and physiology
• Current BLS certification (AHA)
• Current PALS certification
• Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification preferred
• Excellent critical care assessment and clinical decision-making skills
