About the Position

We are seeking a Locum General Orthopedic Surgeon for a full-time, approximately 6-month assignment in Berlin, NH while a permanent provider is recruited. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a supportive rural healthcare system with an established referral base and a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Position Details

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

  • Operating Room: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday

  • Clinic: Tuesday and Friday

  • Call: Shared call rotation with approximately 10 days of call per month

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of general orthopedic conditions.

  • Perform a broad range of orthopedic surgical procedures.

  • Manage outpatient clinic visits, surgical cases, inpatient consultations, and follow-up care.

  • Participate in shared call coverage for orthopedic emergencies.

  • Collaborate with primary care providers and other specialists to deliver high-quality patient care.

Required Experience

  • Total joint replacement surgery, including hip, knee, and shoulder replacements (required)

  • Management of a wide variety of musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions

  • Comfortable caring for an aging patient population

  • Experience with common hand conditions, including trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome, is preferred

  • Experience evaluating and managing spine and back pain is highly preferred

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school

  • Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery

  • Active New Hampshire medical license or ability to obtain one quickly

  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification
