This regional healthcare network in Northern Indiana provides a range of medical and surgical services across inpatient and outpatient care settings. Clinicians will provide cardiothoracic surgery coverage across inpatient, outpatient, and operating room settings, with weekday hours structured as Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, followed by night call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and 24-hour call on weekends. Inpatient responsibilities include morning rounding on 5 to 8 cardiothoracic patients, updating care plans, writing orders, and coordinating with the multidisciplinary care team, along with post-operative care tasks such as chest tube and pacing wire removal, wound care, and discharge planning. Operating room duties include serving as first assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures and performing vein harvesting using the Maquet system. Outpatient responsibilities include managing approximately 10 consults per day, with all clinical documentation maintained through the EPIC EMR system.
