About the Position

A leading healthcare system in Lansing, Michigan is seeking a Locums Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to provide coverage in a busy Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This opportunity offers a collaborative inpatient environment within a Level I Trauma Center, caring for critically ill and premature newborns alongside an experienced neonatology team.

The ideal candidate will have recent neonatal experience and be comfortable managing NICU patients in a high-acuity setting.

Position Details

  • Practice Setting: Inpatient – Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

  • Facility Designation: Level I Trauma Center

  • Schedule:

    • Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

    • Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

  • Weekend Coverage: Required

  • On-Call Requirements: None

  • EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive neonatal care in a Level III NICU

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill and premature newborns

  • Participate in daily rounding and multidisciplinary care planning

  • Manage admissions, consultations, and discharges within the NICU

  • Collaborate closely with neonatologists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and ancillary services

  • Respond to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
  • Average of 10–12 patients per APP per day

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner

  • Active Michigan license required

  • Neonatal experience required

  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required

  • Experience working in a Level II, III, or IV NICU preferred

  • Strong clinical assessment and neonatal critical care skills
