About the Position

Description

We are seeking a Board Certified General Cardiologist for a locum tenens assignment with a regional health system in New York. This role is focused on outpatient cardiology, stress test supervision, and intermittent inpatient consult and call coverage.

The position is designed for a single physician commitment (3 weeks per month) starting as soon as possible, pending credentialing.

The cardiologist will work in a solo practice setting with limited APP support until September, when current coverage transitions out.

About the Facility

This assignment is based within an acute care hospital system with associated outpatient clinic operations in northern New York.

Key details:

• Acute Care Hospital (Adult Level III–IV Trauma Designation)
• EMR: Epic
• Solo cardiology coverage model
• APP support currently available until end of September
• Provider will float between outpatient clinic and hospital consult service locations:
  • Outpatient Clinic & Stress Testing: Massena, NY
  • Hospital Consult Service: Potsdam, NY

Clinical scope includes:

• General cardiology outpatient care
• Stress test supervision
• Hospital consult coverage (ad hoc)
• Optional nuclear stress test interpretation support (preferred but not required)

Job Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient cardiology clinic care approximately 3 days per week
• Supervise cardiac stress testing approximately 1 day per week
• Provide hospital consult services on an as-needed basis
• Participate in call coverage from 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM as needed
• Interpret cardiac imaging studies, including nuclear stress tests (preferred but not required)
• Work independently in a solo practice environment
• Coordinate care across outpatient and inpatient settings
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Cardiology (required)
• Active New York State medical license required
• Must have Epic EMR experience
• AHA or RQI certification required
• Preferred >5 years of cardiology experience
• Must have complete and up-to-date work history (no gaps >30 days)
• Malpractice history must be fully documented with physician statement if applicable
• Strong independent practice capability required

Working Hours

• Schedule: Monday – Thursday
• Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Commitment: 3 weeks per month
• Duration: 6–9 months
• Start: ASAP (anticipated early August pending credentialing)
• Call Coverage: 4:00 PM – 8:00 AM (as needed)
• No multiple rotating providers (single-physician coverage model preferred)
