About the Position

We are seeking a Board‑Certified Pediatrician for a locum tenens opportunity providing call‑only pediatric coverage in a community hospital setting. This assignment focuses exclusively on inpatient, emergency, and newborn care, with no clinic or office responsibilities.

Schedule Details:

• Primary call coverage: Thursdays, 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM
• 1 in 4 weekend call rotation, beginning Thursday at 5:00 PM
• Weekend shifts may extend through Monday at 8:00 AM
• 30‑minute callback requirement

The pediatrician will provide comprehensive pediatric call services, including newborn nursery coverage, inpatient pediatrics, and emergency department consults for patients under age 18.

Average overnight call volume ranges from 0–5 calls per shift, with 1–2 admissions annually per provider. The facility averages 200+ deliveries per year, with pediatric presence required as needed.

Requirements

Board Certified in Pediatrics
MD required
Active Vermont Medical License

Comfortable providing:
Newborn nursery coverage
Participation in high‑risk deliveries and neonatal resuscitation
Management of common newborn conditions (jaundice, feeding issues, hypoglycemia)
Pediatric emergency department consults
Inpatient pediatric care
Stabilization for NICU transfers
Participation in pediatric codes

Ability to respond to pager calls related to:
Postpartum and breastfeeding questions
Pediatric symptoms (fever, vomiting, diarrhea, rash)
