About the Position

📋 Job Description

A healthcare facility in Tahlequah, Oklahoma is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician for a locum opportunity in a high-volume Emergency Department/Urgent Care setting.

The provider will work a combination of day and night shifts managing acute and chronic emergency cases while collaborating with a strong multidisciplinary support team. This position offers consistent scheduling, excellent support coverage, and a fast-paced emergency medicine environment.

🩺 Responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical care for patients of all ages
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions
• Manage emergency department patient flow and admissions
• Perform emergency procedures as needed
• Work collaboratively with hospitalists, pediatrics, orthopedics, OB, ENT, podiatry, nephrology, and behavioral health teams
• Document patient encounters using Cerner EMR
• Handle emergency and urgent care cases in a high-volume environment

📌 Requirements (For LJO)

• Active Oklahoma Medical License – Required
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine – Preferred
• Family Medicine physicians with strong ED experience accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department or Urgent Care experience – Required
• ACLS (AHA) – Required
• BLS (AHA) – Required
• PALS (AHA) – Required
• ATLS – Required
• DEA – Required
• Comfortable treating all age groups
• Must be flexible with days, nights, weekends, and holiday scheduling
• CPR Codes for 12 months required

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts
• Days Per Week: 3
• Shift Mix: Days & Nights
• Day Shifts: 7a-7p, 8a-8p, 10a-10p, 11a-11p, 12p-12a
• Night Shifts: 7p-7a

• Combined ED & Urgent Care volume: 200+ patients per day
• 33 total beds (13 ER / 20 Overflow)
• Average physician volume: 16–22 patients depending on acuity
• Double physician coverage
