- Location: Syracuse, NY 13212 — Central New York / Finger Lakes region
- Assignment Duration: 26 weeks
- Start Date: June 30, 2024
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $5,520 - $5,820 (competitive locum tenens pay)
- Shifts per Week: 2
- Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Case Types: General anesthesia and orthopedic anesthesia — heavy emphasis on regional blocks
- Charting System: iPro electronic charting
- Supervision: CRNA to MD ratio 4:1 (MD supervision)
Qualifications / Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist)
- Current license as a registered professional nurse (NY licensure or ability to obtain required)
- Graduation from an accredited nurse anesthesia program
- Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
- Availability for approximately 4 weeks per month during the assignment
- Demonstrated proficiency in regional anesthesia (peripheral nerve blocks), especially for orthopedic cases
- Ability and willingness to complete cross-credentialing at Crouse Hospital (required)
Key Responsibilities
- Perform thorough pre-anesthesia assessments and verify informed consent with patients and families
- Discuss anesthetic options, risks, and perioperative plans for general and orthopedic procedures
- Induce, maintain, and emerge patients from anesthesia using best practices in general and regional anesthesia
- Perform regional anesthesia techniques and nerve blocks for orthopedic cases as required
- Continuously monitor physiologic status and institute appropriate clinical interventions
- Document all anesthesia care accurately in the iPro charting system (precise perioperative documentation)
- Collaborate closely with supervising physicians, surgical teams, and perioperative staff to ensure safe patient care
