About the Position

PA/NP (Cardiothoracic ICU) Opportunity in Pittsburgh, PA

Step into a high-acuity cardiothoracic ICU role with strong physician support and an expanding provider team. This position for a Certified Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner focuses on advanced CTICU management with a highly predictable, shift-based schedule and no traditional call burdens.


Practice Overview

  • You'll join an established CT surgery/CTICU APP team expanding to provide 24/7 unit coverage
  • Inpatient-focused role: rounding, ICU management, and coordinating care with surgeons and consulting services
  • Strong support model with on-site cardiac surgeons, experienced RNs, and specialty teams rounding in the unit
  • Procedural exposure available; ECMO experience is preferred, and training can be provided

Schedule

  • Rotating 12-hour shifts (days/nights) across Monday-Sunday coverage
  • Structured rotation with time off built in (approximately 18 shifts per 8-week period)
  • No call responsibility for this position
  • Typical census is very manageable (often fewer than six patients)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $120,000-$140,000 (based on experience)
  • Sign-on bonus available
  • Benefits include malpractice with tail, CME ($1,500 plus CME time), medical/dental/vision, disability coverage, pension/403(b) with contribution, and coverage of license/DEA/privileging fees

Candidate Requirements

  • PA or NP with current certification and prescriptive authority
  • High level of acute care experience required; Cardiac ICU experience strongly preferred
  • Comfort managing critically ill post-op patients in a collaborative ICU environment
  • Interest in advanced CTICU skills (ECMO exposure a plus; training available)
