About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant specializing in Gastroenterology for a full-time locum tenens assignment in an acute care setting. This role involves providing comprehensive gastroenterology care to adult patients in both outpatient and inpatient practice environments.

The Physician Assistant will evaluate and manage medical problems in the gastroenterology/internal medicine practice, collaborate closely with physicians and clinical staff, and assist in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Schedule Details:

• Monday–Friday
• Day shift only
• 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• No call required
• Full-time coverage needed

Key responsibilities include conducting patient evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, prescribing and monitoring medications, providing patient and family education, and documenting all clinical activities in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

The PA will work with a collaborative clinical team, including physicians, anesthesia support for procedures, nursing staff, and advanced practice providers. Patient population consists of acutely ill adult patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions.

Requirements

Active New York State Physician Assistant License 
Minimum 3 years of recent experience as a Physician Assistant
AHA BLS certification required
Strong understanding of gastroenterology and internal medicine
Epic EMR experience required
No work history gaps exceeding 30 days
If malpractice history exists (dismissed or not), a provider statement is required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
