About the Position

Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Surgery (Locum Tenens)
Start Date: July 2026 (Full-time need starting September)
Contract Length: 26 Weeks
Schedule: Tuesday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-time coverage)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Surgical NP/PA for a dynamic locum opportunity combining first assist in the OR and surgical floor coverage. This role requires strong hands-on surgical skills, including robotics experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Schedule & Call

  • Full-time: 4 weeks/month (Tues–Fri, 7a–5p)
  • Flexible shifts available initially (5x8s, 4x10s, or 3x12s)
  • Optional call opportunities:
    • Weeknight call: ~4 shifts/month (5p–7a)
    • Weekend call: 1–2 per month (Fri 5p – Mon 7a)
    • Weekend rounding: 8a–12p

Work Details

  • Mix of OR First Assist + Surgical Floor coverage
  • Specialties: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Assisting in surgeries (robotics required)
    • Suturing, wound care, hemostasis, and patient positioning
    • Rounding, progress notes, consults, and discharges
  • Patient Population: Adult acute care
  • EMR: EPIC

Facility & Team

  • Acute care hospital setting
  • Team includes surgeons, anesthesia, NP/PA, and nursing staff
  • Collaborative, team-based environment

Requirements

  • NP or PA with Robotics experience (required)
  • Active NY License (in hand at submission)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS
  • Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
  • Board Certified
  • EPIC experience required
