Job Details – Locum Anesthesiologist (Richmond, VA)
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $9,010 - $9,500
- Location: Richmond, VA 23226 (Richmond, Virginia; Virginia anesthesiology jobs)
- Assignment Dates: June 8, 2026 – June 12, 2026 (1 week only)
- Shift Duration: 8-hour days required; 10-hour days preferred
- Hours per Week: 32
- Setting: Large hospital with 30 anesthesia rooms (operating room / OR, perioperative environment)
- Charting System: Epic experience preferred
- MD to CRNA Ratio: 1:4 (supervision of CRNAs as needed)
Job Requirements – Anesthesiologist Qualifications
- M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine
- Board certification in Anesthesiology required (board-certified anesthesiologist)
- Successful completion of an ACGME-approved residency in Anesthesia
- Current, active Virginia medical license required (no candidates needing to obtain state license)
- ECFMG and FLEX (if applicable for IMGs)
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as an anesthesiologist in an OR/perioperative setting
- Ability to work the specified week without interruption and provide reliable vacation coverage
Responsibilities – Clinical and Supervisory
- Provide perioperative anesthesia care including pre-anesthesia assessment, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
- Medical management of patients rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain during surgery and procedures
- Perform pre-op evaluations, verify informed consent, and discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients
- Monitor patient physiological condition intraoperatively and perform clinical interventions as needed
- Supervise CRNAs and provide independent anesthetic care for assigned cases as required
- Coordinate with surgical teams, nursing, and perioperative staff to ensure safe operating room workflow
- Document care in Epic and adhere to hospital policies and anesthesia department protocols
