About the Position

We are seeking a Board‑Eligible or Board‑Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for an ongoing locum tenens assignment providing 24‑hour weekend call coverage in an acute care hospital setting. This role focuses on urgent cardiothoracic surgical support and consultative services.

Schedule Overview:

• 24‑hour on‑call coverage
• Friday 12:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Coverage required three weekends per month

The surgeon will support urgent surgical cases, including patients transferring from the cath lab to the operating room. Stable patients may be managed conservatively until weekday staffing resumes. Post‑operative care transitions patients from ICU through discharge, with the surgeon providing backup support following consults.

Average callback time, including rounding, is approximately 2–4 hours per day. Patient population consists of adults only. This role does not include TAVR procedures.

An APP is available to support clinical care and workflow.

Requirements

Board Eligible or Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
Active Pennsylvania Medical License (or willingness to obtain)
DEA required
Minimum 1 year of experience
Comfortable managing urgent cardiothoracic surgical cases
Experience working within a hospital‑based surgical service
Epic EMR experience preferred
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
