π Job Description
Join a collaborative endocrinology team as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, providing comprehensive care for patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders. This role emphasizes patient education, evidence-based treatment, and close collaboration with endocrinologists.
Key Responsibilities:
- π©Ί Conduct comprehensive endocrine-focused histories and physical exams
- π Manage conditions including diabetes (Type 1, Type 2, gestational), thyroid disease, osteoporosis, adrenal and pituitary disorders, and metabolic syndromes
- π Initiate and adjust medications, including insulin and hormone therapies under collaborative protocols
- π§ͺ Interpret laboratory results, imaging, and diagnostic studies
- π Educate patients on disease management, medications, lifestyle changes, and self-care tools (e.g., CGMs, insulin pumps)
- π€ Collaborate with endocrinologists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
- π Monitor patient progress, respond to abnormal labs, and manage medication refills
- π Document all clinical encounters accurately and timely in the EMR
- π Participate in care coordination, quality initiatives, and population health efforts
Requirements
Education:
- PA: Masterβs degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- NP: Masterβs or Doctorate in Nursing (Family, Adult, or Adult-Gerontology)
Licensure & Certification:
- Active New York State PA or NP license
- National board certification (NCCPA for PAs; AANP or ANNC for NPs)
- DEA registration with prescriptive authority
- BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Experience & Skills:
- 1β2 years of clinical experience in endocrinology or internal medicine preferred
- Experience with diabetes technology (e.g., CGMs, insulin pumps) highly desirable
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient education skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with endocrinologists and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills
