About the Position

We are seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiac Surgery for a locum tenens position covering 3 weekends per month. This role includes 24-hour call shifts from Friday 5 PM through Monday 7 AM, offering a focused schedule with concentrated coverage.

You will work in an urgent surgery environment, supporting patient care from the cath lab to surgery. Patients who are stable may wait until Monday for surgery, with care transitioning from ICU to home under your guidance. A surgeon is available for backup consultation as needed.

Work Environment:

• Hospital-based cardiac surgery department with 163 beds
• EMR system: EPIC
• Support staff includes Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
• Special procedure focus on vein harvesting
• Patient population: Adults aged 18 and above

✅ Qualifications

• Physician Assistant (PA) license required
• DEA registration required
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in cardiothoracic surgery or related surgical setting
• Acute care certification is not required but experience in urgent surgical care is essential
• Ability to manage callbacks and rounding averaging 4 hours daily during coverage
