About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant (PA) for a locum tenens surgical assignment offering a mix of Operating Room First Assist and Medical Surgical Floor coverage. This is a dynamic opportunity to work closely with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities include assisting in a variety of surgical procedures and managing perioperative patient care. The role involves:

• Serving as First Assist in the OR across General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedics
• Performing surgical tasks such as suturing, wound closure, hemostasis, and tissue handling
• Assisting with patient positioning, sterile field maintenance, and intraoperative support
• Supporting suction, drainage, and irrigation procedures
• Providing inpatient care including rounding, progress notes, consults, and discharge planning
• Managing orders and coordinating patient care on the surgical floor

This position includes flexible scheduling options in August, with opportunities for weekday and weekend call. There is strong potential for assignment extension or ongoing coverage based on facility needs.

✅ Qualifications

• Active New York Physician Assistant License (required)
• Board Certified Physician Assistant
• Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
• Robotics experience highly preferred
• Current certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

  • ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support)

• Experience with EPIC EMR system
• Strong clinical, surgical, and communication skills
• Clean and consistent work history with no unexplained gaps
