About the Position

A well-established community hospital in Rome, NY, is seeking a full-time Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine Physician to join their growing hospitalist team as a Nocturnist. This position offers an exceptional inpatient practice opportunity with a manageable patient census and strong subspecialty and intensivist support.

The Nocturnist will provide comprehensive inpatient medical care during night shifts, managing approximately 5–10 patients per night. Responsibilities include admissions from the emergency department and referring physicians, detailed patient assessments, acute condition management including those in an open ICU with 24/7 intensivist consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration, discharge planning, and maintaining accurate documentation in the Paragon EMR system.

You will engage in quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development and CME activities. New graduates who are Board Eligible within 1 year are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Truly Board Eligible in Internal Medicine (within 1 year of eligibility)
• New York medical license or willingness to obtain
• Clean malpractice and license history
• DEA certification
• Recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days)
• 1 year of hospitalist or nocturnist experience preferred but not required
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
• Not accepting locum tenens, visa, or 1099 candidates
• Candidates with lapsed Board Certification will not be accepted
