About the Position

A locum tenens opportunity is available in Potsdam, NY for a Physician Assistant to provide care in a hospital-based surgical setting. The role includes a mix of Surgical First Assist in the OR and inpatient surgical floor coverage, supporting patients undergoing general surgery, OB/GYN, and orthopedic procedures.

You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide rounding, consults, order management, and assistance in surgical procedures, including tasks such as hemostasis, suturing, wound care, and patient stabilization. The role supports a diverse adult patient population in an acute care environment using EPIC EMR.

Shift Timings:

• Day shifts: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (3x12s or 4x10s options)
• Weekday call: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Weekend call: Friday 5:00 PM – Monday 7:00 AM
• Occasional 24-hour call shifts and weekend coverage

Requirements

• Certified Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• Active New York State License
• BLS, ACLS, and ATLS Certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent surgical experience
• Epic EMR experience required
