About the Position

A leading healthcare organization in West Michigan is seeking a dynamic and experienced Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Medical Director to provide strategic and clinical leadership across a regional program serving Grand Rapids and surrounding lakeshore communities.

This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and grow a high-impact Maternal Fetal Medicine service line within a mission-driven environment focused on improving outcomes for mothers and babies. The Medical Director will work in close collaboration with administrative and clinical leadership in a dyad model, as well as alongside OB/GYN Medical Directors, to drive excellence in care delivery.

Key responsibilities include overseeing clinical operations for complex maternal-fetal cases, providing hands-on patient care for high-risk pregnancies, and leading program development initiatives. The role also involves accountability for quality outcomes, service excellence, team engagement, and financial performance across the region.

In addition, the Medical Director will play a vital role in education and mentorship, supporting the growth and development of medical students and residents while fostering a collaborative, multidisciplinary care environment.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in OB/GYN (required)
  • Board Certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years of Maternal Fetal Medicine practice experience (excluding training)
  • Prior leadership experience (2+ years preferred) or demonstrated leadership training
  • Active Michigan medical license (or willingness to obtain)
  • DEA certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • BLS and ACLS certifications (or willingness to obtain)
  • Clean malpractice history strongly preferred
  • Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days) required
  • Not open to new graduates or candidates with lapsed board certification
  • Open to H1B visa candidates (J1 waivers not accepted)
