About the Position

We are seeking a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist for locum tenens coverage in a busy hospital setting in Virginia. This role provides 24-hour on-call coverage for adult patients, performing both inpatient and outpatient procedures.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and upper/lower GI procedures, supporting a dynamic team in a high-volume, hospital-based environment. The position requires availability for scheduled locum shifts and participation in hospital rounds and procedural coverage.

This is a unique opportunity for a Gastroenterologist seeking flexible locum assignments with hands-on procedural experience.

Requirements

• Board-Certified in Gastroenterology

• Active Virginia medical license

• Clean malpractice history for temporary privileges

• ERCP experience required

• Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) preferred

• Flu shot required; COVID vaccination highly preferred

• Ability to provide 24-hour on-call coverage

• Experience with procedures including:

  • Colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy

  • Upper GI Endoscopy with Biopsy

  • ERCP (Diagnostic & Therapeutic)

  • PEG Tube placement

  • Esophageal Manometry & Dilatation

  • Liver Biopsy

  • Management of Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube

• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative hospital team
