A leading healthcare system in Michigan is seeking a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon for a Locum Tenens assignment providing 24-hour trauma call coverage at a busy Level I trauma environment.

This role offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity clinical setting supporting emergency and trauma teams with plastic and reconstructive surgical expertise, particularly for hand injuries and trauma-related procedures. The provider will respond to trauma calls, evaluate patients, and perform necessary procedures when required.

The practice environment includes collaboration with trauma surgeons, orthopedic specialists, and emergency medicine physicians to deliver comprehensive care for adolescent through geriatric patient populations.

Key responsibilities include providing on-call coverage for trauma cases, performing hand and reconstructive procedures, and responding in person when surgical intervention is required.

This opportunity is ideal for a plastic surgeon experienced in trauma care, reconstructive surgery, and hand procedures seeking a flexible locum tenens schedule with consistent call coverage needs.

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Plastic Surgery

  • Active Michigan medical license (full unrestricted license required)

  • Recent NPDB self-query report

  • Experience with trauma-related plastic surgery procedures

  • Ability to provide 24-hour on-call trauma coverage

  • Experience performing procedures such as:

    • Hand trauma procedures

    • Traumatic hand reconstruction

    • Facial laceration repair

    • Skin grafting and flap procedures

    • Scar revision procedures

    • Minor burn care

  • BLS and ACLS certifications strongly preferred

Providers should be comfortable working in a high-volume emergency environment and responding to urgent surgical consults.
