About the Position
A rewarding opportunity is available for a Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for U.S. Veterans. This locum role focuses on evaluation-based exams rather than treatment, offering a structured and efficient workflow.
Exams are primarily interview-based assessments with limited physical evaluation, such as range of motion testing and muscle strength checks. No prescribing or ongoing treatment is required.
This position offers flexible scheduling, allowing providers to work half-day or full-day shifts on a PRN basis. Providers may conduct exams from their own office location within the required radius of the service areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting Compensation & Pension examinations and Separation Health Assessments
- Performing interview-based evaluations with focused physical assessments
- Completing medical documentation and reports following examinations
- Providing medical opinions and addendums when required
- Ensuring accurate and timely submission of evaluation reports
- Supporting healthcare services that assist U.S. Veterans
Requirements
- Certified Nurse Practitioner (AANP required)
- Active and unrestricted medical license
- Background in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or related field
- Experience with Compensation & Pension exams or general medical evaluations preferred
- Proficiency in METs testing and evaluating respiratory and cardiovascular conditions
- Must own a laptop (non-Apple device required)
- Willingness to complete DMA certification training
- Ability to perform interview-based exams and focused physical assessments
- Must have a private office within the required service radius to see patients
- Ability to complete administrative documentation, reports, and medical opinions
