About the Position

Description

We are seeking a full-time General Surgeon to join a collaborative surgical team in Brattleboro, Vermont. This role offers comprehensive surgical responsibilities across inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and wound clinic settings.

The position provides a full-scope general surgery experience within a supportive community hospital environment, working alongside anesthesiology, hospitalists, advanced practice providers, and perioperative teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform general surgical procedures including hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colorectal procedures, endoscopy, and small bowel obstruction management

• Provide inpatient and outpatient surgical care

• Deliver emergency department surgical consults

• Manage acute and chronic wounds in a multidisciplinary Wound Clinic

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary medical teams

• Provide patient education and post-operative care planning

• Participate in quality improvement and departmental activities

Working Hours

• Full-Time employed position

• Standard community hospital surgical schedule

• On-call responsibilities expected

Requirements

📋 Requirements (Documents Required at Presentation)

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery – REQUIRED

• Completion of accredited General Surgery Residency – REQUIRED (no exemptions)

• MD or DO – REQUIRED

• Active Vermont Medical License – REQUIRED

• DEA (prior to start) – REQUIRED

• CPR for Healthcare Providers – REQUIRED

• Clean Malpractice History – REQUIRED

• Most recent NPDB Self Query (within 30 days) – REQUIRED

• Must confirm visa status (not accepting visa candidates)

• Not accepting Locum or Locum-to-Perm candidates

• Must reside within 1 hour of facility

• Cannot work concurrently with another position

• Permanent Placement Fee: $25K (to be acknowledged at submission)
