About the Position

A respected hospital-based pathology laboratory in Syracuse, New York is seeking a Board-Certified Anatomic Pathologist for a 3–6 month locum assignment due to provider shortage. This is a weekday-only opportunity with no call requirements, offering a structured schedule and strong departmental support.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • No call

Practice Setting:

  • Hospital-based Pathology Lab
  • CLIA and NYS certified laboratory
  • Level III Trauma Center
  • EPIC/Beaker EMR system
  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: 40–45 days

Team & Volume:

  • 4 Pathologists in group
  • 5 Histotechnologists
  • 1 Pathology Assistant
  • 2 Cytotechnologists
  • Approximately 13,000 surgical specimens annually
  • Approximately 3,000 cytology specimens annually

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • General Anatomic Pathology

  • Surgical Pathology

  • Cytology (GYN cytology proficiency required)

  • Frozen section analysis

  • Grossing specimens

  • Cutting frozen sections on cryostat

  • ThinPrep cytology preparation

Equipment Includes:

  • ThinPrep Integrated Imager (Hologic)

  • Avantik Cryostat (QS12UV, QS II)

  • Nikon Eclipse E400 & Olympus BX41 Microscopes

 

Requirements

All required items must be submitted at time of presentation:

  • Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology – Required
  • Active New York Medical License – Required
  • Self-Query NPDB report (dated within the same month as submission) – Required
  • Willingness to accept conversion terms
  • Current CV (including complete locums history)
  • NPI and supporting credentialing documentation
  • Clean malpractice and professional background
