About the Position

A General Acute Care Hospital in Grass Valley, California is seeking a Board-Certified Interventional Radiologist for locum coverage. This facility is Stroke Certified and provides comprehensive acute care services, including ICU, OB, surgical, and emergency department coverage.

Schedule & Coverage

  • Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Coverage Dates:
    • April 27 – May 1

    • May 25 – May 29

    • Ongoing coverage opportunities available

  • Weekend Requirements: Yes
  • On-Call Requirements: Yes

Practice Setting

  • General acute care hospital environment
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Support from Radiology nurses and technologists
  • Additional read support from a large radiology group for overflow and after-hours coverage
  • Average daily workload:
    • ~50 studies/day

    • 4–6 procedures/day

    • CTs (12–15), X-rays (15–20), Ultrasounds (8–12)

Scope of Work

Hospital Coverage Includes:

  • Acute care imaging including Stroke CTs
  • ED and ICU imaging studies
  • Inpatient and outpatient radiology coverage

Required Procedures:

  • Lumbar punctures
  • Barium studies
  • Centesis exams with drain placement
  • CT/Ultrasound-guided biopsies

Interventional Radiology Procedures:

  • Thoracentesis
  • Paracentesis
  • Nephrostomy tube placement
  • Intra-abdominal abscess drainage
  • Chest tube placement
  • Suprapubic catheter placement
  • Thyroid and lung biopsies
  • Other percutaneous procedures

 

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Radiology – Required
  • Fellowship Training in Interventional Radiology – Required
  • Active California Medical License – Required
  • CA Fluoroscopy Certification – Required at submission
  • BLS Certification – Required
  • Active DEA – Required during credentialing
  • Clean malpractice history – Preferred
  • Self-Query NPDB report (dated within 30 days of presentation) – Required
  • Availability confirmed at time of name clear – Required
  • Strong procedural skillset and acute care imaging capability – Required
