About the Position

Coverage Blocks Needed

  1. August 5 (7am) – August 10 (7am)

  2. October 26 (7am) – November 6 (7am)

Schedule & Practice Details

  • Shift Type: Days with required call coverage

  • Weekend Requirements: Yes

  • On Call Requirements: Yes

  • Coverage at two affiliated medical centers (Waterloo & Cedar Falls locations)

  • Average daily census: 10–20 patients (combined locations)

  • Patient population: All ages

  • EMR: Epic Enterprise

  • No outpatient clinic duties

  • No APP supervision required

Scope of Practice

  • Perform history & physical exams, admissions, evaluations, diagnosis, treatment, and consultations

  • Manage conditions including trauma, infections, tumors, musculoskeletal deformities, degenerative diseases, and injuries involving spine, hands, feet, knee, hip, shoulder, and elbow

  • Provide surgical and non-surgical orthopedic care

  • Participate in ICU care as appropriate per unit policy

  • Respond to emergent consults and call services in accordance with medical staff policies

 

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery (Required)
  • Fellowship Trained in Orthopedic Surgery (Required)
  • Active Iowa Medical License or Active IMLC (LOQ required at name clear)
  • Must be experienced
  • Must be available to cover the listed shift blocks
  • Clean malpractice and background history (NPDB required within last 30–90 days)
  • Ability to meet medical staff credentialing requirements
