About the Position

Position Overview

We are seeking a Board-Certified Hematology Physician for an outpatient locum opportunity in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania. This role focuses exclusively on malignant hematology cases, including leukemia and lymphoma, with no bone marrow transplant responsibilities. This coverage need is due to permanent provider recruitment.

Assignment Details

• Target Start: Late April / Early May

• Duration: Minimum 6 months

• FTE Requirement: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week; 4 weeks/month)

• Minimum Commitment: 2 weeks per month (consecutive or alternating considered)

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

• All clinic visits and charting must be completed during scheduled hours

• Overtime only with hiring manager approval

Call Schedule

• Monday – Thursday pager call: 5:00 PM – 8:00 AM

• No weekend call

• Fellows take first call; physician serves as second call for escalations

Clinical Responsibilities

• Develop and manage treatment plans for new and follow-up patients

• Manage leukemia, lymphoma, and other malignant hematology cases

• 15–20 patients per day

  • New visits: 45 minutes

  • Follow-ups: 20 minutes

• APPs perform bone marrow biopsies (no procedural requirement for physician)

• EMR: EPIC

Practice Setting & Support

• Outpatient clinic setting

• Team includes 4 MDs, APPs, RNs, and MAs

• Collaborative oncology environment

Credentialing & Compliance

• Hospital Privileging: 90–120 days

• Application must be completed within 10 days of receipt

• Background requirements during privileging:

  • Act 33 – Child Abuse Registry

  • Act 34 – PA State Police Check

  • Act 73 – FBI Background Check

Travel & Housing (If Applicable)

• Allowable expenses may include hotel, rental car, flight, luggage, gas, parking, tolls, and mileage (if no rental car)

Requirements

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Hematology – Required

• Active Pennsylvania Medical License – Strongly Preferred (licensure candidates considered)

• Pennsylvania DEA – Required

• BLS & ACLS Certifications – Required

• Name clear required (Name + NPI)

• Self-Query NPDB (within 30 days of presentation) – Required
