About the Position

We are seeking a Board-Certified Hematologist for a locum tenens opportunity focused on malignant hematology in Pennsylvania. This coverage is needed due to a permanent provider departure, with an anticipated start in late April/early May and a minimum commitment of 6 months.

This is a full-time assignment (1.0 FTE), Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM with a 1-hour lunch. All clinic visits and documentation must be completed during scheduled hours. Overtime requires prior approval.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Management of leukemia, lymphoma, and malignant hematology cases

  • Development of treatment plans for new patients and follow-ups

  • 15–20 patients per day

    • New consults: 45 minutes

    • Follow-ups: 20 minutes

  • No bone marrow transplant patients

  • No procedural responsibilities (APPs perform bone marrow biopsies)

Call Schedule:

  • Weeknight pager call (5:00 PM – 8:00 AM, Monday–Thursday)

  • Fellows take first call; physician serves as second call for questions

  • No weekend call

Practice Environment:

  • EMR: EPIC

  • Collaborative team of 4 physicians

  • APPs, RNs, and MAs provide strong clinical support

Minimum commitment to be considered: 2 weeks per month (consecutive or alternating).

Requirements

  • Board Certified in Hematology (required)

  • Active Pennsylvania medical license (strongly preferred)

  • PA DEA registration

  • BLS and ACLS certifications

  • Will consider providers in licensure process (IMLC or standard), though active PA license preferred

  • Ability to complete credentialing requirements within 10 days of receipt

  • Background checks required during privileging process:

    • Child Abuse Registry (Act 33)

    • PA State Police Check (Act 34)

    • FBI Background Check (Act 73)

Hospital privileging timeline: approximately 90–120 days.
