About the Position

  • We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to join a collaborative surgical team in a supportive community hospital setting. This role involves providing comprehensive care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings, performing a range of common surgical procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform general surgical procedures including hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, endoscopy, colorectal surgery, and skin/soft tissue surgeries.

    • Evaluate and manage acute and chronic surgical conditions, including wound care management.

    • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, physician assistants, perioperative teams, hospitalists, and emergency department clinicians.

    • Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and post-operative care.

    • Review diagnostic tests, provide surgical input for palliative care, pain management, and end-of-life decisions.

    • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

    • Maintain compliance with safety standards and medical regulations.

 

Schedule: Generally 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (practice-dependent),

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.

  • Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.

  • Active Vermont medical license (or eligible to obtain).

  • DEA license and CPR certification for healthcare providers.

  • Proficiency in surgical techniques and procedures.

  • Clean malpractice history.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
