About the Position

We are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible General Surgeon to join a collaborative surgical team in a supportive community hospital setting. This role involves providing comprehensive care across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department settings, performing a range of common surgical procedures, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform general surgical procedures including hernia repair, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, endoscopy, colorectal surgery, and skin/soft tissue surgeries.

Evaluate and manage acute and chronic surgical conditions, including wound care management.

Collaborate with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, physician assistants, perioperative teams, hospitalists, and emergency department clinicians.

Educate patients and families on surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and post-operative care.

Review diagnostic tests, provide surgical input for palliative care, pain management, and end-of-life decisions.

Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and ongoing professional development.

Maintain compliance with safety standards and medical regulations.

Schedule: Generally 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (practice-dependent),
Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited medical school.

Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.

Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.

Active Vermont medical license (or eligible to obtain).

DEA license and CPR certification for healthcare providers.

Proficiency in surgical techniques and procedures.

Clean malpractice history.

Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.

Base Salary: $285,000 – $320,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
