About the Position

A hospital-based practice in Waterloo is seeking a Board-Certified Hematologist/Oncologist for locum coverage. This opportunity supports both clinic and inpatient care, managing antineoplastics, consults, and follow-up care for adult patients.

Shift & Schedule:

• Mon–Thurs, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (16 shifts per month)

• On-call: one week and one weekend per month (phone calls only)

• Full-time commitment required at time of name clear

Practice Details:

• Clinic: 16–20 patients/day

• Inpatient: 0–2 patients/day (mostly phone consults with hospitalists)

• EMR: EPIC

• Adult patients (18+)

• Support staff: 2 nurses per provider, reception, lab, social worker, dietician, referral & triage nurses

• Services: Antineoplastics, phlebotomy, IV IgG, iron therapy, bone marrow biopsies

• 4 exam rooms, with imaging, lab, and pharmacy onsite

Requirements

• Board-Certified in Hematology & Oncology – Required

• Fellowship-trained in Hematology & Oncology – Required

• Active Iowa license or IMLC – Required

• Must be able to perform MUA – Required

• Clean malpractice/background; Self-Query NPDB within 30 days – Required
