About the Position

We are seeking a Board-Certified Physician Assistant for a locum opportunity in Cardiothoracic Surgery with a busy, high-volume program.

Assignment Details

• Specialty: Physician Assistant – CT Surgery / CVI

• Setting: Inpatient, OR, and clinic

• EMR: EPIC

• Start Date: Mid-May 2026

• Duration: 6–8 months

• FTE: 1 FTE (20 shifts per month)

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (30-min lunch)

• Clinic: 1 formal day/week

• Weekend rounding: Possible once/month (4 hours/day)

• No call

Clinical Responsibilities

• OR Coverage: Endoscopic vein harvest, first assisting

• Inpatient Rounds: Postoperative management, writing notes, placing orders, removing drains/pacing wires, admissions, consults, discharges

• Clinic Duties: Post-op visits, new patient consultations with surgeon, patient education, phone triage

• Manage cardiac surgery patients: CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR (~150 open hearts/year)

• Patient volume: 6–8 patients/day

Support

• Other cardiac PAs, office staff

• 1 MD per day for supervision and collaboration

Requirements

• Board-Certified Physician Assistant

• Active PA license & DEA (IMLC considered, active PA license preferred)

• BLS & ACLS

• 2–3 years cardiac experience

• Proficient in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH) – Venapax & Maquet systems
