Position Overview
An established healthcare system in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Fellowship-Trained Hematology/Oncology Physician for a locum-to-permanent opportunity. This position offers a balanced 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule with clinic and inpatient responsibilities, along with call coverage.
The physician will provide comprehensive medical hematology and oncology care including new patient evaluations, ongoing treatment management, chemotherapy oversight, therapy adjustments, and coordination of ancillary services.
Assignment Details

Schedule: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off with call

Clinic Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Patient Contact Hours: 6 per day

Clinic Days: Approximately 4–5 days per week

On-Call: Yes (schedule TBD)

Weekend Coverage: As needed

Inpatient Responsibilities: Yes

Outreach: Approximately 6 days per month (regional outreach)

Telehealth: May be required in addition to inpatient coverage

Patient Volume: 10–30 clinic patients per day

Average Daily Hospital Census: 10–15 patients

Clinical Responsibilities
-
Conduct comprehensive hematology and oncology patient assessments
-
Develop and manage new and ongoing treatment plans
-
Oversee chemotherapy and systemic therapy management
-
Adjust treatment regimens based on patient progress
-
Provide end-of-life care and supportive oncology services
-
Coordinate referrals for ancillary services
-
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiation and surgical oncology

Manage inpatient hematology/oncology census

Participate in call coverage

Requirements
