Position Overview

A leading hospital in Lansing, MI is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon for locum coverage. This role primarily includes 24-hour call coverage with a strong preference for weekend call from Friday evening through Monday morning. The physician will provide adult cardiac and general thoracic surgical care within a Level I Trauma Center environment.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: 05/01/2026

• Schedule: 24-Hour Call Coverage

• Preferred Coverage: Friday evening to Monday morning

• Additional Coverage: 1 week of call per month

• Weekend Requirement: Yes (Friday night through Monday morning)

• On-Call: Required

• Average Volume: ~1 case per weekend

• OR Availability: 2 dedicated CV Surgery ORs (daytime)

• EMR: Epic

• Patient Population: Adult

• Rate: Submit best rate

• CABG

• Heart Valve Repair & Replacement

• Tube Thoracostomy

• Pericardial Window

• Thoracotomy (Lung Biopsy, Lung Resection, Pneumonectomy)

• Mediastinal Surgery

Travel & Expense Coverage

• Flight

• Hotel

• Rental Car or Mileage (IRS standard rate)

Credentialing

• Estimated timeframe: Approximately 90 days

Requirements

Mandatory Requirements (Must be clearly noted at submission)

• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery – Required

• Active Michigan License – Required (will consider candidates willing to obtain)

• BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications – Required

• NPDB Self-Query (within 30 days) – Required at presentation

• Clean Malpractice & License History – Highly Preferred
