About the Position
Position Overview
The Medical Oncologist will provide comprehensive outpatient oncology services, delivering personalized, evidence-based cancer care to a diverse rural population. The role includes multidisciplinary collaboration, patient education, and participation in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
-
Diagnose and stage various malignancies using clinical evaluation, imaging, and laboratory studies

Develop individualized treatment plans including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and coordination of radiation therapy

Monitor patient response to treatment and adjust care plans as needed

Manage treatment-related side effects and provide supportive care

Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis

Provide compassionate guidance throughout the cancer care journey

Collaborate closely with surgeons, radiologists, oncology-certified nurses, nurse practitioners, and care navigators

Participate in clinical trials and quality improvement initiatives

Maintain current knowledge of oncology advancements and evidence-based practices

Contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions and departmental initiatives

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Oncology – Required
-
Active Vermont Medical License (or ability to obtain prior to start) – Required

Completion of an accredited U.S. or Canadian residency program (as specified) – Required

Clean malpractice history – Required
-
Most recent NPDB Self-Query Report (within 30 days) – Required at presentation
