About the Position
Position Overview
The Hospitalist Physician will provide comprehensive inpatient medical care, managing a broad spectrum of acute and chronic conditions in hospitalized adult patients. The physician will work closely with specialists, emergency medicine providers, respiratory therapists, nursing staff, CRNAs, and ancillary services to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.

12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Rotating weekend coverage (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM when scheduled)

Key Responsibilities
-
Provide direct medical care including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges
-
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions
-
Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care
-
Perform ventilator management
-
Respond to medical emergencies including codes and rapid response situations
-
Coordinate care plans and ensure smooth transitions of care
-
Order, interpret, and act upon laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies
-
Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the EMR
-
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and consulting specialists
-
Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
-
Participate in clinical meetings, quality initiatives, and hospital committees
-
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and medical ethics

Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements

MD or DO from an accredited medical school – Required
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine – Required

Active Vermont Medical License – Required
-
DEA (must be obtained prior to start) – Required
-
BLS Certification – Required
-
ACLS Certification – Required
-
Ventilator management experience – Required
-
Experience running codes – Required
-
Clean malpractice history – Required
-
2–3 years Hospitalist experience – Highly Preferred

Rural health experience – Highly Preferred

Most recent NPDB Self-Query Report (within 30 days) – Required at presentation
