Position Overview

Seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN to provide hospital call coverage for obstetrics and gynecology services. This assignment includes comprehensive labor and delivery coverage, high- and low-risk obstetrics, and surgical gynecology procedures.

Schedule & Coverage

• 24-hour weekday call shifts

• 48-hour weekend call shifts

• Coverage needed ASAP on an ongoing, as-needed basis

• Call Ratio: 1:6

• Weekend coverage required

• On-call responsibilities included

Practice Environment

• Hospital-based OB/GYN call coverage

• Established practice with 4 physicians

• No additional OB/GYN coverage during locums dates

• Onsite laboratory services available

• Onsite ultrasound services available

Obstetrics Scope of Practice

Low-Risk Obstetrics

• Routine pregnancies

• History of twins

• Toxemia

• Pyelonephritis

High-Risk Obstetrics

• Toxemia

• Diabetes

• Class II or higher cardiac conditions

• Chronic lung disease

• Chronic renal disease

Labor & Delivery Responsibilities

• Routine vaginal deliveries

• Low forceps deliveries

• Clinical decision-making for cesarean sections

• Complicated deliveries including:

  • C-sections

  • Breech deliveries

  • Multiple births

  • Abruptions

• VBACs

• Repair of 3rd and 4th degree lacerations

Gynecology & Surgical Procedures

• Open surgical gynecology

• Laparoscopic diagnostic and minor procedures:

  • Tubal ligation

  • Lysis of adhesions

  • Chromotubation

• Operative and major procedures including:

  • Ectopic pregnancy management

  • Oophorectomy

  • Ovarian cystectomy

  • Extensive lysis of adhesions

Assignment Details

• Coverage Type: Hospital call OB/GYN

• Credentialing: ASAP

• Reimbursable Expenses: Hotel and mileage (IRS standard rate)

Requirements

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology

• Active Pennsylvania medical license or active IMLC (willing to obtain PA license)

• BLS and ACLS certification

• Strong experience in high-acuity obstetrics and gynecologic surgery

• Clean professional background
